Unlike most other wedding video companies, we do not make wedding videos, we make wedding films. Our goal is to produce a wedding film personalised to you that will grab your attention and keep your eyes glued to the screen. Every wedding has its own style and personality and we edit according to the music and mood of the scene. We want your film to stand out and be different from anyone else's and as we are always learning better techniques and using new technology to further our product, you can be assured that your wedding film will be cutting edge and stand out from the rest.
There are many aspects to creating a stunning wedding film and the first one is how it is filmed. First of all we use shoulder mounted cameras because they produce are far more stable shot than handheld cameras and our cameras have long zoom lenses so that we don't have to be in your face. We can film from a comfortable distance to give you, your space and therefore produce more natural looking shots. Most of the day we will shoot as it naturally happens but we may also ask you to repeat something, like giving each other a kiss. We also like to take the bride and groom away for 15 mins after the photographs to set up some shots that may involve things like walking together hand in hand. You will also see us putting our cameras in all sorts of positions to capture unique and interesting angles from floor shots to high shots along with the use of a steadicam for long smooth moving shots.
During the ceremony we will use a radio mic on the groom and we will also plug in to the church's sound system in combination with shotgun microphones to record the vows. During the speeches we will mic up the head table in combination with the shotgun mics on our cameras and during the reception we always mic up the band/Dj and use the cameras microphones in combination.
Most of our films are appox 45 - 60 minute productions. We feel from our experience and customer feedback over the years that this is a very enjoyable length, just enough to keep you entertained but not too much to bore you.
Music is half your film. We encourage you to give us around 10 - 15 of your favourite songs and from these we can get an idea of your musical taste and personality. We also suggest that the songs you choose should be your current favourites that may actually be playing on the radio or in the charts at the moment, so that when you watch your video in years to come, the songs you would hear every day from around the time when you were getting married will actually trigger emotions and stronger memories. We will probably only end up using around 5 -6 of your favourite songs and the other half of the music will be from a mixture of instrumental film scores and backing track music which is very common in any motion picture/television production. All music licenses are covered in your package price and no extra charges are made for church or dvd music licenses.
We use a varierty of the latest editing software for different aspects of the day. We have found Sony Vegas Pro to be excellent at quickly putting together the footage and we use Adobe Affter Effects for adding FX to certain parts of the footage. Another great program we use for audio is Adobe Soundbooth which has the ability to remove sounds like a mobile phone ringing or a loud bang. This software can also give a fuller tone to human vioces and to get those movie style colours we use a variety of plugins of which the Magic Bullet Look Suite seems to be the best.
First of all a non refundable deposit of £100 is required when booking to secure the date of your wedding. Then we will require 50% of the remaining balance to be paid two weeks before your wedding date. Then a final payment is taken when your pre-view/proof disc is ready. We accept payment in the form of cash, cheque or bank transfers. Please make all cheques payable to MGH Productions.
Typically the editing time can vary according to the time of year but we aim to send out a pre-view disc within 6 - 8 weeks. If your wedding is filmed in the months of July, August, September and October then please allow up to 12 weeks to receive your pre-view disc. We spend a lot of time during the edit, creatively personalising your wedding film to you, as well as balancing audio and ensuring each shot is coloured and graded to bring out the smaller details and give your wedding film a strong and vibrant look. After you receive your pre-view disc you need to watch it and let us know if you are happy with it before we produce the final version.
We are based in Ellesmere Port and travel fees for weddings up to 30 miles away are included in our package price. Unfortunately we have to charge a travel fee for any wedding beyond 30 miles from Ellesmere Port. Please contact us for an individual quote as there are many factors involved including our time, petrol, toll charges, parking, and vehicle wear and tear. We have to factor these elements into running a business like any other business.
